Dedication
To the memory of my kind, patient and
understanding parents John Wesley and Susannah Farmer Bones, and my
dear devoted husband William Thomas Crook, this book is lovingly

Preface
My family and friends have been urging me to
write the story of my life. I promised I would, but never got
started. I was 80 years of age on April 30th 1968 , and
decided that if I am ever to write a book, it is time to begin.
I have never had any training in writing, but I
have always talked a lot, so I shall write this in very simple words
as if I were talking.
My purpose in writing this is two-fold: I would
like to preserve some of our family history for my grandchildren and
for future generations. The second purpose is to show the changes in
the ways of living, customs, entertainment and transportation during
my lifetime.
This is not hearsay, but facts that I experienced and
remember.
